What is carpet cleaning?

Steam cleaning for installed synthetic carpet

We clean installed synthetic carpet in bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, and stairs. Mike, our steam-cleaning technician, checks the fiber, condition, traffic lanes, and problem spots before work begins.

Hot-water extraction is commonly called steam cleaning. We do not clean wool or other natural-fiber carpet. If the fiber is unknown or the manufacturer does not allow water-based extraction, we decline the work rather than risk damage.

Mike is the technician who handles our carpet, upholstery, area-rug, and tile-and-grout appointments.

For carpet, upholstery, and area rugs, Mike confirms that the material is eligible for our water-based extraction method before starting. We do not switch to leather, dry-cleaning, or delicate natural-fiber methods on site.

Our process

Complete transparency — no surprises

Tell us the rooms, stairs, approximate square footage, visible spots, pet concerns, furniture, and access. We use those details to confirm the scope and upfront price.

Mike confirms that the installed carpet is synthetic and compatible with water-based extraction, treats the selected traffic lanes and spots, and cleans the agreed areas.

We review the visible result and identify permanent wear, damage, or staining that cleaning cannot remove. The carpet remains damp after extraction and finishes drying naturally.

What to expect

Customer-focused from start to finish

This service is for compatible installed synthetic carpet. Wool, natural-fiber, and unknown specialty carpet are outside our steam-cleaning scope.

Carpet remains damp after service. Drying varies with construction, humidity, airflow, condition, and the amount cleaned; we do not promise one fixed dry time.

Many spots and odors improve, but bleach marks, fiber damage, permanent discoloration, and contamination below the carpet may remain.

Amazing company. From the scheduler (Catherine), to the staff, to the crew. Such professionalism and courtesy and responsiveness. They truly care to tailor your needs and don't push any extra services. Also they are all in one company also offering carpet shampooing! Lastly, the house is spic and span super clean! Highly recommend!!

Carpet Cleaning questions

How long before I can walk on the carpet and put furniture back?

Walkable in clean socks almost immediately, and usually fully dry inside a day — airflow, temperature, and humidity decide it. Wait for fully dry before furniture goes back — wood and metal feet on damp fiber transfer stain and rust marks that are harder to remove than the dirt you just paid to take out. If something must go back early, put foil or plastic tabs under the legs.

Steam cleaning vs. dry cleaning — which one is better?

Hot-water extraction (what everyone calls steam cleaning) is what most carpet manufacturers specify to keep a warranty valid, and it pulls the most embedded soil out of the fiber. Low-moisture and bonnet methods dry in an hour or two but mainly clean the top of the pile. Art's uses hot-water extraction on eligible installed synthetic carpet.

Why did my stains come back a few days after cleaning?

That's wicking, not a failed clean. Soil sitting deeper than the fiber face travels back up with the moisture as the carpet dries and reappears as a shadow of the original spot. It's re-treatable. Tell us within a few days and we'll come back out.

Will carpet cleaning remove old pet stains and the smell?

Surface accidents caught early usually come out completely. Urine that soaked through into the pad and subfloor is a different problem — cleaning the fiber alone leaves the source in place, and the odor returns with humidity. That needs saturation treatment, and in bad cases pad replacement. We'll tell you which one you have rather than promising it away.

How often should carpet be professionally cleaned?

Manufacturers generally specify every 12–18 months to keep a warranty in force. Households with pets, small kids, or allergy sufferers do better at 6–12 months. Vacuuming removes dry soil but not the oily film that binds dirt to the fiber and dulls color in traffic lanes.
