How Long Does a Deep Clean Take for a 3-Bedroom Home?
A 3-bedroom deep clean takes about 4 to 6 hours with a team of two — published elsewhere on our site as 4 to 7 hours with a team of 2–3 cleaners. Here's what makes that number move, and the order we work in.

A 3-bedroom deep clean takes about 4 to 6 hours with a team of two. On larger or more neglected homes we publish it as 4 to 7 hours with a team of 2–3 cleaners. A standard clean on the same house runs 2 to 3 hours. The gap is scope, not pace.
Why does a deep clean take twice as long as a standard clean?
Because it touches roughly twice as many surfaces. A standard cleaning covers what you see and use daily — floors, counters, bathrooms, kitchen and dusting — in 2 to 3 hours.
A deep cleaning adds everything routine cleaning never reaches: baseboards, behind and under appliances, grout lines, vent covers, window tracks, blinds, ceiling fans and hard-water descaling. Those are slow, kneeling, detail-work tasks.
A deep clean runs the full 50-Point Checklist — 12 kitchen points, 12 bathroom points, 12 living-area points, 6 bedroom points and 8 all-around-the-house points — and does each of them properly, which is where the hours go.
What makes a 3-bedroom deep clean faster or slower?
Size sets the floor. Condition sets the ceiling.
| Factor | Pushes the visit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Time since the last professional clean | Slower, sharply | A first deep clean carries however many months of buildup exist |
| Number of bathrooms | Slower | Bathrooms are the slowest rooms in any home to do properly |
| Hard-water film on shower glass | Slower | Descaling needs dwell time, not scrubbing force |
| Oven and grout condition | Slower | Baked-on residue and darkened grout are the two biggest single time sinks |
| Pets | Slower | Hair works into carpet, upholstery and baseboards and needs its own pass |
| Recent remodel or construction dust | Slower | Fine dust recontaminates surfaces and forces repeat passes |
| Clutter on counters and floors | Slower | Every item is picked up, cleaned under and replaced |
| Already on a recurring plan | Faster | Nothing has been left to bake in between visits |
| Empty or lightly furnished rooms | Faster | Nothing to work around, nothing to move |
| A team of three instead of two | Faster on the clock | Same scope, compressed into fewer hours |
In what order do we deep clean a 3-bedroom home?
The order is deliberate: dirtiest rooms first, floors last, so nothing clean gets recontaminated.
- Walk the home with you. Five minutes agreeing priorities, problem areas and access saves an hour of guessing.
- Set up and pre-treat. Oven, shower glass and grout get their products applied first so they can dwell while other work happens.
- Bathrooms. All of them, top to bottom — grout scrubbed, mineral film removed, fixtures, and behind and around the toilet.
- Kitchen. Backsplash, cabinet fronts, range hood, small appliances, sink and fixtures, then behind and under what can be moved.
- Bedrooms. Six checklist points per room, plus baseboards, closet floors, vents and light fixtures.
- Living areas. Ceiling fans, blinds, window tracks and sills, switch plates, door frames and every horizontal ledge.
- Return to the pre-treated surfaces. The oven, grout and shower glass have now had the dwell time that makes them come clean.
- Floors, everywhere, last. Vacuumed and mopped to the perimeter, including the edges where furniture stood.
- Final walkthrough. We check the checklist with you before the crew leaves.
What do real visit times look like?
A published review gives one honest data point. On an 800 sq ft move-out, J Lin wrote:
"Great work! Two ladies did a move out cleaning in our 800 sq ft condo. Everything is spotless in 2 hours." — J Lin, Google
That is a small, empty unit with two cleaners. A lived-in three-bedroom with a hard-used kitchen sits well above it.
Read that as one end of the range rather than a promise about your home. A maintained 3-bedroom lands nearer the bottom of the 4-to-6-hour window; a first-time deep clean with a hard-used kitchen lands nearer the top.
Does sending a bigger crew make it quicker?
Yes on the clock, no on the scope. A team of three runs exactly the same checklist as a team of two — the work is split, not shortened, which is why larger homes are published at 4 to 7 hours with a team of 2–3 cleaners.
It matters most when the visit has to fit inside one workday, or inside a building's access window. We size the crew to the home at the quote stage so the finish time is predictable before you book.
Because we price the job rather than the hour, the meter never decides your total. Your estimate covers the described scope, and work beyond it is explained, priced, and approved by you before we proceed.
Does a 3-bedroom in Orange County take longer than one in Los Angeles?
The cleaning itself is the same. What differs is everything around it, and on the Westside that can decide your start time.
| Orange County 3-bedroom | LA Westside 3-bedroom | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical property | Detached house or townhome with a driveway | Condo, walk-up or high-rise unit |
| Layout effect | More floor area and often more bathrooms | Compact footprint, frequently fewer bathrooms |
| Arrival | Park in the driveway, start immediately | Service elevator, loading dock or permit parking, arranged in advance |
| Scheduling constraint | Your calendar | Your calendar plus HOA access windows and quiet hours |
| Practical advice | Book the crew | Book the building, then the crew |
In Irvine 92618 and neighbouring Tustin, a 3-bedroom is usually a detached or attached house, so square footage drives the hours. In Santa Monica 90401–90405 and Culver City 90232, a 3-bedroom is more often a condo — smaller to clean, but with an access window that has to be confirmed first.
Do you have to be home for the whole visit?
No. Most clients are present for the opening walkthrough, then leave and return for the final check. Our cleaners are background- and reference-checked, so plenty of households simply hand over access instructions.
If you do stay, the useful thing is availability rather than supervision — a quick decision about a cluttered surface saves more time than watching does.
How often does a 3-bedroom need this?
Less often than you might think, if you maintain it in between. Layering weekly or biweekly upkeep under a periodic deep clean is what keeps the deep clean near four hours instead of near seven.
Our guide to how often to deep clean an Irvine home covers the cadence in detail, including the local conditions that shorten it.
What does that time cost?
We price the job, not the hours. Deep cleaning sits in our published $200–$400 range site-wide, with most services in the $200–$550+ band and recurring maid service at $120–$300+.
Orange County city pages publish per-city tiers on top of that — Irvine deep cleans run $250–$350, $350–$500 and $500–$700 by home size. Los Angeles is quoted from the service-level bands instead, because Westside housing is far less uniform. The full breakdowns are in our cost guides for Irvine and for West LA and Santa Monica.
The bottom line
Budget 4 to 6 hours with a team of two for a 3-bedroom deep clean, stretching to 4 to 7 hours with a team of 2–3 cleaners on a larger or long-neglected home. Condition moves that number far more than square footage does.
